Will the fibres become dislodged?

Applied correctly, Nanogen Fibres can be used with confidence. We recommend applying a layer of fibres, followed by a few short bursts of Locking Mist to hold them in place even in heavy wind or rain

I wash my hair every 3 days do I need to apply the product daily?

Nanogen Fibres are designed to remain bound to the hair until you wash them, so there is no need to re-apply the product daily, however a small amount of fibres will become dislodged from contact with a pillow at night, and these areas can be touched up as required. The product is colourfast and will not stain clothing or the scalp. The product is completely natural and safe even if kept on hair for several days. Nanogen Fibres are dermatologically tested to ensure they are safe for thinning hair.

My hair is greying slightly - are Nanogen Fibres suitable?

Yes. You should sprinkle the main colour first (e.g. black, brown, blonde etc) followed by a sprinkling from a grey (or white) container. The fibres are completely dry and will intermingle perfectly. This method can be used with any colour combination (e.g. highlights).

Are the fibres waterproof?

Nanogen Fibres are resistant to rain and perspiration, and even under water when combined with the Fibre Locking Mist, but wash out out easily with shampoo.

Can I use styling products such as waxes and gels with Nanogen Fibres?

To achieve best results, Nanogen Fibres should be applied to dry hair. Therefore, the product is not suitable to be used along with several styling products sporting the 'wet look' appearance, such as waxes, gels, hair gums, etc. Applying Nanogen Fibres to hair that has been treated with a 'wet look' hairstyle product may cause the fibres to clump and ruin the natural appearance. You may, however, freely style your hair with mousse, hairspray or any other product, which does not leave a greasy film on your hair. We would advise to style the hair first, allow them to dry and then apply the fibres. We would also strongly recommend using the Fibre Fibre Locking Spray. The Fibre Locking Spray was specially developed to maximise the performance of Nanogen Fibres in your day-to-day life. How long after application will Nanogen Fibres last?

They will remain in the hair until the next shampoo wash.

How long does a jar of Nanogen Fibres last?

A 15g jar lasts approximately 1 month, and a 30g jar lasts about 2 months dependent on use. Simply look at the fill gauge on the side to see how much you have left. Do not leave yourself short.

Can I use a hairdryer after applying Nanogen Fibres?

If Nanogen Locking Mist has been applied, strong wind or a hairdryer would not dislodge the fibres - however, since Nanogen should always be applied to dry hair, we do not recommend blow-drying.

Can I comb my hair after applying Nanogen Fibres?

Yes, but using a wide toothed comb. It is more for shaping than fine grooming. Most people just use their hand and fingers to pat their style into place.

Are Nanogen Fibres safe to use with hair re-growth formulas such as Minoxidil?

Yes. These special fibres are completely non-toxic and do not interfere with any other Nanogen products, or other topical formulations that you may be using. Nanofibres is simply a cosmetic preparation.

Should I take the clear plastic cover off the jar or am I supposed to pierce my own holes?

The plastic cover is there to ensure the product is delivered in the best condition, so you should take the cover off as it allows the product to flow out of the jar easily and for you to be able to apply it evenly on your hair.

How long does Aquamatch last after applying?

Once applied, Aquamatch will last until you wash your hair.

Can I use Aquamatch in conjunction with Minoxidil or Finasteride?

Yes you can. Aquamatch has been formulated so that is does not affect Minoxidil or Finasteride. As some topical treatments may penetrate more slowly through Aquamatch it is recommended to wash it off before using a treatment.

How do I choose the best colour match for my hair, what if I choose the wrong colour?

You can judge the most natural looking Aquamatch colour for you using our colour chart. If you are not happy with the colour that you select when ordering, contact us and we will exchange it for you.

Should I apply the Aquamatch directly to my scalp, does it need blending in?

Yes you should. Do not apply in heavy lines; gently build up colour by applying feathery strokes for the most natural looking camouflage possible. You should blend in any unnatural looking lines with your fingertip, making sure to wash your hands thoroughly afterwards to avoid any colour transfer.

Will Aquamatch stain my clothes, bed sheets or hands?

Initially the product is easily blendable, however once the product has "dried" (which will take approximately ten minutes) then colour will not run or mark. You may wish to wash your hair before going to bed to make sure that there is no trace left on your pillow case, and you should avoid rubbing Aquamatch when possible.

How do I match the Aquamatch colour to my Nanofibres?

The colour of the Nanofibres that you use will have a correspondent Aquamatch colour.

Can I style my hair after I have applied Aquamatch?

If you feel like you have made an error in applying Aquamatch then you should apply soap and water to a cotton bud and gently erase it.

Will the colour of the product run in the rain or if I perspire?

Aquamatch has been designed to be extremely water resistant once applied (after the "drying" period). Therefore the colour will not run due to rain or perspiration.

If you are applying Aquamatch alone then you can style your hair as desired after applying Aquamatch. Bear in mind that many styling products group hair together and make it look thinner, so the result may still be better without extensive styling. If you still wanting to style your hair after the application of Aquamatch and Nanofibres then you should follow the styling instructions for Nanofibres.

Why is there not an Aquamatch to match the Nanofibres I use?

Nanogen's mission is to provide all customers with the most natural looking camouflage possible. At the present time, using Aquamatch that is a blonde, grey or white colour does not make enough of a difference to satisfy Nanogen's high standards in hair loss concealers, so you can simply use Nanofibres and water-resistant Locking Mist.

Will using Locking Mist help this product to stay in place?

Aquamatch is waterproof so doesn't need Locking Mist.

Can I use Aquamatch with Nanofibres?

Yes you can. Aquamatch complements your existing Nanofibres camouflage routine, as well as being useful as a waterproof stand-alone product.

Do I need to wash my hair before using Fibre Locking Spray?

You will need to apply Nanogen Fibres and or Aquamatch before applying Fibre Locking Spray. You do not need to wash your hair before applying any of these 3 products, however if you have already applied them once, you can wash your hair to remove them all before reapplying. This may be helpful in preventing the products building up too much, which can make them look unnatural. Nanogen Fibres and Aquamatch should be applied to dry hair and scalp for best results.

Is it essential that I use Fibre Locking Spray as well as the Nanofibres?

It is not essential that you use Fibre Locking Spray with the Nanogen Fibres, but we do strongly recommend it. Using Fibre Locking Spray provides a natural finish to perfectly match your own hair, and ensures the best retention of fibres throughout the day.

Does using Fibre Locking Spray cause damage to hair or hair loss?

Fibre Locking Spray is formulated so it will not damage hair, inhibit hair growth or cause any increase in hair loss. Furthermore, Fibre Locking Spray is compatible with any topical treatment, and will not significantly affect Minoxidil penetration when used on the hair.

Will Fibre Locking Spray leave my hair feeling greasy or stiff to the touch?

No it will not. Fibre Locking Spray will bond Nanogen Fibres to your hair without grouping your hair together or making it greasy or stiff. Nanogen Fibres and Fibre Locking Spray will look exactly like your natural hair, just thicker!

How much should I use? What if I use too much?

Fibre Locking Spray is very strong, for most people, 4 sprays or even fewer will be enough to provide secure hold all day. Around 8 sprays is the most you would need, even to make the Nanogen Fibres waterproof. If you use too much you can wash it off easily with shampoo, and it won't cause any harm. However to avoid using too much spray twice, allow to dry, and repeat, that way you can't use more than you want and get the perfect effect every time.

What is the difference between using Fibre Locking Spray and using a regular hairspray?

Fibre Locking Spray is dispensed as a finer mist compared to normal hairsprays. Hairspray is not dispensed in as fine particles and so may cause the fibres to clump together, reducing the natural effect of Nanogen Fibres. Fibre Locking Spray secures the fibres in wind, rain, perspiration, and even under water, whilst also protecting your hair and the fibres from UV damage. Additionally, Fibre Locking Spray gives your hair and the fibres a consistent, natural shine.

How long does Fibre Locking Spray last compared to the Nanofibres?
